It's Scarlett and her babies!
Our local shelter called us to rescue this momma kitty and
her babies. I believe they were found in a storage shed,
and taken in by a concerned citizen who was unable to keep
them long term.
It's Scarlett!
Scarlett was a very good mother, and also a very protective
one. I'm not sure how old she was when we got her, but we
assume she was a young mother also.
When we first got Scarlett, we found her to be quite friendly,
to a point. She also had another side to her that was
unpredictable. You could pet her one minute, and the next
minute she would attack! Not real vicious or anything, but
we definately learned that you "don't mess with Momma!"
Eventually, my husband tamed the beast inside her for the
most part. Now she loves to be petted and even gives kisses.
She will jump on your lap and let you pet her. However, she
does still have about a five minute rule. Pet her for a short
time, and then just let her sit on you. She will still nip at
you if you pet her too long. All in all she is a real
sweetheart now. Her babies are the best also!!
It's Mittens!
Mittens is the only boy of the bunch!
Mittens is "Mister Mellow". He is an easy-going laid back
kind of guy. He can really cut loose and play when he wants
to, but there is really only one thing that gets him super
excited; potato chips! Yes, potato chips. No, Mittens does
not want to eat them, he just wants to play with them. The
mere sound of a potato chip bag will send him running to the
living-room table. He will sit there and stare at you while
you eat, patiently wating for you to toss a small piece his
direction. It is some sort of game to Mittens; perhaps
kitty volleyball or softball or dodgeball. Toss him a chip
and he will usually smack it back at you, or often even
catch it with his paws. This is his favorite game...he
absolutely loves it!! Mittens also has the sweetest face and
the most peaceful loving eyes. He is such a sweet and
handsome boy!
It's Buster!
Buster is a very nice girl and probably the most photogenic cat
we have. We have several pictures of her, because almost
every picture we take of her is a good one! Buster, (like her
brother & sisters), has never really been a lap cat. However,
she loves attention. Buster loves to sit and just stare at
you. She has always done this. As she grows older, she has
grown more loving. She now enjoys being petted, and will
follow you all over the house crying for attention. She wants
lots of love...just so long as it doesn't involve being
picked up. Her favorite toy is the laser light. She loves to
chase it. She also loves the flashlight. If you point it at the
ceiling, she will jump with all her might, over and over and
over to try and get it! She can jump super-high! It is so
funny to watch her. She has great focus and concentration.
Buster is a real sweet girl!
It's Tiny Tiger!
Tiny Tiger is a quiet cat for the most part. When Tiny was
younger, her personality was somewhat fragile and she would
scare easily. Now she is very loving and not fearful at all.
She, as is this whole group, very family oriented. She can
most often be found in the kitchen on the table, lying next
to momma Scarlett and her brother and sisters. She is one
of our heartiest players though. Once she starts running or
chasing something, she won't stop until she's literally
panting and out of breath. She saves up her energy for the
laser light, which is her favorite toy! She will chase it
endlessly. Tiny's other favorite toy is a rubber squeaky mouse.
She will carry it in her mouth all over the house and
make whinning noises while she has it. We don't know why
she makes this noise when carrying the mouse...but she always
does. In our opinion, Tiny is a twin to Pippy (below).
They are much easier for us to tell apart nowadays, but when
they were little it was somewhat difficult. Tiny is a good
girl!!
It's Pip Sqeak (Pippy)!
Pippy is one of the sweetest cats we've ever had.
She is gentle, quiet and sweet. She also has a very caring
heart, and seems to know if a fellow cat is not feeling well.
She will be the first to console and sit with anyone who is
sick or not feeling well. She will try to "bathe you better!"
Pippy is very friendly, and gets in extremely loving moods from
time to time. She has two favoite thing: bread and the laser
light! Don't dare think you are going to make a sandwich
without having Pippy beg for a bite. She loves bread...we are
not sure why. Her favorite toy is the laser light. She will
chase after it for as long as you are willing to play. She
even seems to know when you are about to take it out of the
drawer to play. Pippy has a kind spirit and we are blessed
to have her!
